KARACHI: A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Wednesday for spreading propaganda against the paramilitary force against Muttahida Quami Movement’s (MQ) media cell in-charge Aminul Haque.

Sources said that the FIR was registered at the Azizabad police station under the supervision of a Rangers’ officer. According to the petition, MQM’s media cell in-charge was spreading propaganda against Rangers on social media, print media and electronic media. The petition also stated that this act of the MQM member was disheartening the force and was also hindering operational activities.

The petition also stated that in the recent past, Aminul Haque spread an anthem on social media targeting Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif, Director General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Corps Commander Karachi and DG Rangers. It was also pointed out in the petition that the anthem contained the words “The enemy who made us cry, we will make them cry now.” An FIR has been registered against Aminul Haque in light of the petition. The area’s Station House Officer (SHO) refrained from commenting on the issue.

Pakistan Awami Tehreek leader Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has announced to hold countrywide protest demonstrations throughout the country on May 11, adding that he will give a course of action for revolution on the same day. He said that the rulers were not representatives of the state but political face of the terrorists who were heading towards a permanent end of their rule. He said that if they got six more months in power, the country would be so destroyed that it would not be possible to bring it back on track. He said that the rulers were pocketing billions of rupees through so-called privatization in the guise of talks with the Taliban and the Pervez Musharraf trial. He demanded that treason case should be initiated to cover the military takeover on October 12, 1999. He said that at a time when the members of Parliament were getting hefty pay cheques, the poor were being grinded by massive price hike, corruption, unemployment, lawlessness and terrorism. He said that there was no solution except revolution.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri stated this while addressing a press conference through video link from Canada.

Dr Qadri said that the terrorists gave protection to the present rulers during electoral process and now the latter were reciprocating the gesture by establishing a safe zone. He said that death held sway in Thar and the millions of families had been facing Thar-like situation in the country. He said that while the people were dying of starvation, the ruling elites in Sindh and Punjab were holding Cultural and Youth Festivals with a view to deceiving the masses. He said that the Pervez Musharraf case was reflective of personal bias, adding the script to undermine the morale of the armed forces seemed to have been dictated from abroad. He said that present rulers had their massive investments of $10 billion in a dozen of countries in the form of mills, super markets, plazas and business concerns and they were dreaming to become Tats and Burlas of Pakistan.

Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the government did increase salaries, perks and privileges of its members but pushed the masses in the abyss of inflation, price hike, unemployment, poverty, corruption and lawlessness. He said that the appointment of blue-eyed and favourite people in the top positions of the state-owned entities had given a new lease of life to corruption and plunder of resources. He said that rulers wanted personal loyalty from every office holder in the land and gave a damn to resolution of issues facing the masses.

Dr Qadri said that today’s rulers had perpetuated a reign of corruption by establishing partnership with those whom they claimed to drag on roads. He said that ruling elite of Pakistan had stashed their wealth in oversees countries through tax evasion, plunder of national resources and by pushing the youth into unemployment. He said that those who never tired of the Constitution were product of dictatorship themselves. He said that if a case of the Constitution’s suspension were to be initiated, it should be started from October 12, 199 and all those who played a role in any manner should be tried through a fair trial. He said that all those judges who put their seal of approval on suspension of the Constitution and all politicians who legitimized the military takeover should be held accountable for their actions. He demanded that ‘a politician-judge’ who twice took oath of office at the hands of Musharraf should also be tried in the court of law.

Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri said that the talks with the Taliban were a fraud, adding that talks with those who killed over 50,000 innocent citizens and security personnel were akin to betraying the people’s sacrifices. He said that release of terrorists over and above due process of law should be explained to the people. He said that one glaring example of the rulers’ interest in the affairs of state was that over a dozen key positions of Pakistan High Commissioners and Ambassadors were vacant, waiting to be filled through appointment of loyalists. He said that the corrupt rulers wanted to establish family dynasty which was manifest from the fact that about twenty close family relatives were running the government in different capacities.

Preliminary and partial official results from Afghanistan’s April 5 presidential election show a close contest between opposition politician Abdullah Abdullah. The Afghan Independent Election Commission has counted more than 500,000 votes of the seven million ballots cast. The early figures put Abdullah Abdullah in the lead with nearly 42.9 percent of the votes counted. Announcing the details at a news conference Sunday in Kabul, Commission Chairman Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani cautioned this is not the final result and the frontrunner could change.

Afghan officials also acknowledge that recorded incidents of serious fraud have exceeded figures for the 2009 presidential election when more than a million votes were canceled. Nuristani says his commission is determined to address the issue. He said there is no doubt fraud has taken place in many parts and the Independent Election commission is firmly committed to resolve the issue within its authority and present only those results that are free of fraud. Nuristani vowed to do so in a transparent and open manner in the presence of media, election observers and representatives of the candidates. He emphasized the primary job of investigating irregularities and fraudulent votes lies with the country’s Independent Election Complaints Commission.

There could be a runoff election between Abdullah and Ghani if neither gains more than 50 percent of the vote when the final results are announced on May 14. The initial results show a third candidate running with the support of President Hamid Karzai’s brothers – Zalmai Rassoul – trails far behind with nearly 10 percent of the votes counted. Speaking to reporters, presidential candidate Ghani said the lead Abdullah has at this stage is not significant.

“We are in a hundred minute (football) game and we have only down with ten minutes,” Ghani said. “So, as Chairman Nuristani said the results will change every day, every two days, three days.”

The international community is praising the high turnout of an estimated 60 percent of the 12 million eligible Afghan voters in the April 5 balloting, there are fears the evidence of widespread fraud could undermine the legitimacy of the election seen crucial for Afghanistan’s future stability. The winning candidate will replace President Hamid Karzai who has been leading the country for more than 12 years and could not run again because of constitutional limits. The political transition will be the first democratic transfer of power in war-ravaged Afghanistan.

Sources had said on Friday that the meeting would seek to break the apparent impasse in the peace process, particularly regarding the release of non-combatant prisoners. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed that as many as 400 non-combatants, including women and children, are in the custody of the security agencies. However, the security agencies have refuted these claims.

 

“The issue could potentially be a deal-breaker in the talks,” said one official, who told The Express Tribune that the TTP had not given concrete assurance regarding an extension of the one-month ceasefire, due to expire next week.

The government and Taliban negotiating teams in their meeting in Islamabad on Saturday reviewed the progress in the recently held direct dialogue between the government team and Taliban Shura, Radio Pakistan reported.

Later talking to newsmen, Maulana Samiul Haq, member of the Taliban-nominated team, said that the agenda for further talks with Taliban Shura would be set during the next few days in addition to determining the venue and date of that meeting.
To a question, he said there was no deadlock in the talks and said progress has been made in the dialogue process.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has said dialogue was the only option it considers right now to address the menace of terrorism and the country’s powerful army was on the same page with the government over the issue.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said government’s offer of dialogue was unconditional. He said the army completely supports the option of dialogue as the top priority to check terrorism and extremism in the country.

Nisar said he does not want to talk of any other option in case the dialogue does not work. “Our priority is dialogue, and we don’t want to talk of anything else right now”.

Nisar said the PML-N has been opposed to the post-9/11 policies of the Musharraf regime.

“You just go through my speeches in Parliament as Leader of the Opposition; I have always been in favour of dialogue instead of the use of force,” he told The News daily.

Completely endorsing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s dialogue offer, the Minister lamented that the media recently misreported that the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) had set the condition that the government would talk to only those extremist groups that would lay down their arms.

“It was totally baseless,” he said, adding the DCC meeting never discussed this.

Asked about the stance of the army and if there was any difference of opinion between the government and the army on the issue of dialogue, Nisar said the civilian government and the military establishment today are enjoying the best of working relationships and are on the same page to pursue the dialogue process.

He doubted there has ever been such an understanding between the civilian government and the military establishment.

The minister said undoubtedly Pakistan lost more than 40,000 civilians, soldiers, policemen and others in terrorist activities, but, he added, it is also a fact that some of those carrying out terrorist activities within Pakistan had also lost their innocent children.

“We need to understand that action leads to reaction,” he said, adding there had been no Pakistani involved in 9/11 but still Pakistan has been dragged into this war, and now our people, our children and our security forces are being killed.

“We have to save and secure our own people from being killed like this,” he said.

To prevent such killings and to ensure peace, he said, the government had made an unconditional dialogue offer to all extremist groups and those pursuing armed struggle against the state, its people and the security forces.

Later in an interview to Geo News, he said the dialogue with the Taliban failed in the past because the rulers were never sincere with the process.

Nisar added another reason for the failure of the dialogue process was that the civilian and military leadership never remained on same page in this regard in the past.

“At some specific time in the past, when the military leadership was inclined for the initiation of dialogue with the militants, the civilian leadership was not interested and vice versa,” he said.

Asked if the “secret agencies” will intervene in the dialogue process or try to sabotage it, Nisar said, “It’s a difficult question”.

“After having long discussion sessions with all the security agencies, I can assure you that this will not happen and the government, army and all the security agencies will move forward unanimously,” he said adding the government is finalising the steps which will ensure close and continuous coordination between different institutions.

But it is clearly a wrong step which might have been taken because of the interest of Saudi regime. Many examples have been documented in the past. One cited example is that by taking every 50th letter of the Book of Genesis starting with the first taw, the Hebrew word “torah” is spelled out. The same happens in the Book of Exodus. The word Modern computers have been used to search for similar patterns and more complex variants, and published as a “challenging puzzle” in a peer-reviewed academic journal in 1994. Proponents hold that it is exceedingly unlikely such sequences could arise by chance, while skeptics and opponents hold that such sequences do often arise by chance, as demonstrated on other Hebrew and English texts.

Contemporary discussion and controversy around one specific encryption method became widespread in 1994 when Doron Witztum, Eliyahu Rips and Yoav Rosenberg published a paper, “Equidistant Letter Sequences in the Book of Genesis”, in the scientific journal Statistical Science.[2] The paper, which was presented by the journal as a “challenging puzzle”, presented strong statistical evidence that biographical information about famous rabbis was encoded in the text of the Book of Genesis, centuries before those rabbis lived.
Since then the term “Bible codes” has been popularly used to refer specifically to information encrypted via this ELS method.
Since the Witztum, Rips and Rosenberg (WRR) paper was published, two conflicting schools of thought regarding the “codes” have emerged among proponents. The traditional (WRR) view of the codes is based strictly on their applicability to the Torah, and asserts that any attempt to study the codes outside of this context is invalid. This is based on a belief that the Torah is unique among biblical texts in that it was given directly to mankind (via Moses) in exact letter-by-letter sequence and in the original Hebrew language.

The primary method by which purportedly meaningful messages have been extracted is the Equidistant Letter Sequence (ELS). To obtain an ELS from a text, choose a starting point (in principle, any letter) and a skip number, also freely and possibly negative. Then, beginning at the starting point, select letters from the text at equal spacing as given by the skip number. For example, the bold letters in this sentence form an ELS. With a skip of −4, and ignoring the spaces and punctuation, the word safest is spelled out.

Often more than one ELS related to some topic can be displayed simultaneously in an ELS letter array. This is produced by writing out the text in a regular grid, with exactly the same number of letters in each line, then cutting out a rectangle. In the example below, part of the King James Version of Genesis (26:5–10) is shown with 33 letters per line. ELSs for BIBLE and CODE are shown. Normally only a smaller rectangle would be displayed, such as the rectangle drawn in the figure. In that case there would be letters missing between adjacent lines in the picture, but it is essential that the number of missing letters be the same for each line.Although the above examples are in English texts, Bible codes proponents usually use a Hebrew Bible text.
