Pemra bans Dr Shahid Masood show on a serious charge for which PEMRA have no evidence as per ARY news channel.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has imposed a 45-day ban on the ARY News programme ‘Live with Dr Shahid Masood’.

According to a statement issued by Pemra on Thursday, Dr Shahid Masood alleged — in a programme aired on June 22 — that the son of the Sindh High Court chief justice was kidnapped because the chief justice took a bribe and then did not make good on his promises.

According to Pemra, a show-cause notice was issued on July 19 and the channel was given seven days to respond, but the reply received on July 23 was “unprofessional” and no apology was tendered.

The statement issued by the electronic media watchdog said the case was referred to its Council of Complaints in Karachi and the channel’s representatives were asked to appear before it on August 4.

“On the date of the hearing, the channel sought an adjournment and council granted adjournment for another seven days,” the statement said, adding “but the representative of the channel neither tendered any apology for the serious allegation nor presented a satisfactory reply.”

Under the law, Dr Shahid Masood and his channel reserve the right to appeal the authority’s decision before the high court or the Supreme Court within five days.

ARY News has also posted a statement from its counsel, Advocate Moinuddin, on its website. In it, the counsel notes that Pemra’s decision was apparently taken in haste and “may have some mala fide intent”.

Mr Moinuddin also contended that Pemra did not consider their adjournment plea. “We could have gone to Islam­abad to plead our case, but that chance was not provided to us.”

The advocate also expressed surprise that the Pemra order was not signed by any authority, but rather was simply endorsed by the council of complaints.

In a statement posted on their website, Dr Shahid Masood has asked: “What [could] anyone do if the government [had] misconstrued his statement in the programme”, adding that the government must clearly say what was objectionable in the programme, which stirred up a “hornet’s nest”.

But I considered it personally that the allegation against the saif Chief Justice without any evidence is very serious nature and Mr Shahid Masood being a responsible journalist have not made these kinds of allegations for which there is no evidence with PEMRA..

Peshawar attack: Schools reopen after Taliban massacre 120 injured and more than 150 killed on 16th December 2014.

He is meeting Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to make the case for a more robust effort against all militant groups. The Pakistani government has made changes after the attack last month – it has scrapped a moratorium on executions and has moved to establish military courts to try terrorism cases. But US officials travelling with Mr Kerry have said they want to ensure there is a “real and sustained effort” against militants threatening not just Pakistan but also Afghanistan and India. Peshawar teacher Andaleeb Aftab: “I want to go back, I want to teach the students” Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Sartaj Aziz welcomed Mr Kerry’s visit on Monday and suggested that he would be visiting the school that was attacked in Peshawar. The state department has not confirmed Mr Kerry’s itinerary. Seven Taliban attackers wearing bomb vests cut through a wire fence to gain entry to the Army Public School in Peshawar on 16 December. They went from class to class, killing 152 people – 133 of them children – and injuring more than 120. All seven gunmen were killed. “When they entered the halls, their fingers were on the triggers,” said Munawar Hussain, a teacher who survived the attack. Mr Hussain told the BBC that the attackers had aimed at their heads. He only narrowly escaped being shot by hiding under a table. “Today I was very emotional,” he said on his first day back at school. Many of his pupils will never return. “They are missing, I felt their absence,” he added.

Pakistani police on Sunday clashed with scattered pockets of anti-government protesters trying to advance on the prime minister’s residence after a night of violence that saw hundreds wounded and the first death in more than two weeks of peaceful demonstrations.

  

The violence has raised the stakes in a political standoff, in which cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and cleric Tahir-ul-Qadri have led twin protests demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, alleging massive voting fraud in the election that brought him into office last year in the country’s first democratic transfer of power.

Backed by parliament and many political parties, Sharif has refused to step down. Government negotiators have tried to convince Qadri and Khan to end their protests. Senior hospital official Dr. Wasim Khawaja said Qadri supporter Naveed Razzaq drowned in a ditch after he was in a crowd that was bombarded with tear gas. Hundreds of people were wounded overnight as police battled protesters with tear gas, batons and rubber bullets and open firing on these peaceful protesters near the premier’s official residence and later in the adjacent parliament building.

 

The protesters started regrouping at daybreak Sunday and made repeated attempts to make their way through heavy deployment of police and barricades to reach the premier’s residence. Police strengthened their lines and responded by lobbing tear gas canisters. Scores of protesters, including women, carrying hammers and iron rods broke down a fence outside the parliament building late Saturday, enabling thousands of people to enter the lawns and parking area, according to an Associated Press photographer at the scene.

Islamabad police chief Khalid Khattak falsely blamed that the said protesters were armed wire cutters, axes.

More than 500 people – including women, children and journalists were admitted to two government hospitals in the Pakistani capital, medics and police said. The injured had wounds from tear gas shells, batons, rubber bullets and firing bullets said, who heads the capital’s main hospital.

The protests began with a march from the eastern city of Lahore on Independence Day, Aug. 14, that eventually reached Islamabad. Khan and Qadri had called for millions of protesters to join, more than 100 of thousands were peacefully joined them in Islamabad.

The protesters’ presence was a historical peaceful demonstration. On Saturday similar marches were held in Lahore and Karachi, and on Sunday huge demonstrations were held in other towns. It is still continued and the demonstrators are united against the government of Nawaz Sharif. An FIR is also lounged in Lahore against the Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif and their many Ministers of Muslim League (N) against the Murders of the members of Tahir ul Qadri.

This government of Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan is now badly failed and their brutality is still continued in Islamabad and other cities of Pakistan.

An immediate action is required as there is a confirmed reports that government is going to take a special action against some TV channels, senior journalists including anchors and as well as against Tahir ul Qadri and Imran Khan. Mr. Javaid Hashmi of PTI is already funded by this government.

Abdullah Abdullah next President in Afghanistan. Not a good news for Pakistan.

Preliminary and partial official results from Afghanistan’s April 5 presidential election show a close contest between opposition politician Abdullah Abdullah. The Afghan Independent Election Commission has counted more than 500,000 votes of the seven million ballots cast. The early figures put Abdullah Abdullah in the lead with nearly 42.9 percent of the votes counted. Announcing the details at a news conference Sunday in Kabul, Commission Chairman Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani cautioned this is not the final result and the frontrunner could change.

Afghan officials also acknowledge that recorded incidents of serious fraud have exceeded figures for the 2009 presidential election when more than a million votes were canceled. Nuristani says his commission is determined to address the issue. He said there is no doubt fraud has taken place in many parts and the Independent Election commission is firmly committed to resolve the issue within its authority and present only those results that are free of fraud. Nuristani vowed to do so in a transparent and open manner in the presence of media, election observers and representatives of the candidates. He emphasized the primary job of investigating irregularities and fraudulent votes lies with the country’s Independent Election Complaints Commission.

There could be a runoff election between Abdullah and Ghani if neither gains more than 50 percent of the vote when the final results are announced on May 14. The initial results show a third candidate running with the support of President Hamid Karzai’s brothers – Zalmai Rassoul – trails far behind with nearly 10 percent of the votes counted. Speaking to reporters, presidential candidate Ghani said the lead Abdullah has at this stage is not significant.

“We are in a hundred minute (football) game and we have only down with ten minutes,” Ghani said. “So, as Chairman Nuristani said the results will change every day, every two days, three days.”

The international community is praising the high turnout of an estimated 60 percent of the 12 million eligible Afghan voters in the April 5 balloting, there are fears the evidence of widespread fraud could undermine the legitimacy of the election seen crucial for Afghanistan’s future stability. The winning candidate will replace President Hamid Karzai who has been leading the country for more than 12 years and could not run again because of constitutional limits. The political transition will be the first democratic transfer of power in war-ravaged Afghanistan.

Abdullah Abdullah was already against Pakistan in the past and falsely blaming against Pakistan developing terrorism in Afghanistan rather than accepting the truth that Afghan Taliban’s are the major terrorists developing terrorism inside the Afghanistan and in Pakistan as well. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has said dialogue was the only option it considers right now to address the menace of terrorism and the country’s powerful army was on the same page with the government over the issue.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said government’s offer of dialogue was unconditional. He said the army completely supports the option of dialogue as the top priority to check terrorism and extremism in the country.

Nisar said he does not want to talk of any other option in case the dialogue does not work. “Our priority is dialogue, and we don’t want to talk of anything else right now”.

Nisar said the PML-N has been opposed to the post-9/11 policies of the Musharraf regime.

“You just go through my speeches in Parliament as Leader of the Opposition; I have always been in favour of dialogue instead of the use of force,” he told The News daily.

Completely endorsing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s dialogue offer, the Minister lamented that the media recently misreported that the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) had set the condition that the government would talk to only those extremist groups that would lay down their arms.

“It was totally baseless,” he said, adding the DCC meeting never discussed this.

Asked about the stance of the army and if there was any difference of opinion between the government and the army on the issue of dialogue, Nisar said the civilian government and the military establishment today are enjoying the best of working relationships and are on the same page to pursue the dialogue process.

He doubted there has ever been such an understanding between the civilian government and the military establishment.

The minister said undoubtedly Pakistan lost more than 40,000 civilians, soldiers, policemen and others in terrorist activities, but, he added, it is also a fact that some of those carrying out terrorist activities within Pakistan had also lost their innocent children.

“We need to understand that action leads to reaction,” he said, adding there had been no Pakistani involved in 9/11 but still Pakistan has been dragged into this war, and now our people, our children and our security forces are being killed.

“We have to save and secure our own people from being killed like this,” he said.

To prevent such killings and to ensure peace, he said, the government had made an unconditional dialogue offer to all extremist groups and those pursuing armed struggle against the state, its people and the security forces.

Later in an interview to Geo News, he said the dialogue with the Taliban failed in the past because the rulers were never sincere with the process.

Nisar added another reason for the failure of the dialogue process was that the civilian and military leadership never remained on same page in this regard in the past.

“At some specific time in the past, when the military leadership was inclined for the initiation of dialogue with the militants, the civilian leadership was not interested and vice versa,” he said.

Asked if the “secret agencies” will intervene in the dialogue process or try to sabotage it, Nisar said, “It’s a difficult question”.

“After having long discussion sessions with all the security agencies, I can assure you that this will not happen and the government, army and all the security agencies will move forward unanimously,” he said adding the government is finalising the steps which will ensure close and continuous coordination between different institutions.

But it is clearly a wrong step which might have been taken because of the interest of Saudi regime. Mr Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister  of Pakistan is bound to obey the instructions of Saudi Kingdom as he was given the shelter of life from Saudi King in past. Therefore, the decisions taken into the said dialogues with those who have been found the major terrorists in Pakistan. The armed forces are dominated by these acts of Nawaz Sharif as well as there is no change in terrorist activities. The terrorists having support from Saudi Kingdom are making fool to the Government of Pakistan. Their demand is only to release their terrorists from Pakistani prisons so that they could be more active and strong in future. In the past two years, Western media coverage has focused on the growing popularity of Salafist jihadi groups like the Nusra Front (Jabhat Al-Nusra) in Syria. These groups have become both an argument to intervene militarily, as well as a reason to stay out. While this fear has some basis-especially as Al-Qaeda has purportedly announced links with the Nusra Front-it is also colored by post-9/11 counter-insurgency narratives. This has prevented policy makers from situating groups like Jabhat Al-Nusra, a secretive and politically inexperienced organization .

For now, it appears that Salafist jihadis are set to destroy the internal peace of Syria to provide support to the westren interest and Yahudi policies acting against Islam. In such a chaotic environment, and with the opposition still in disarray, it is natural for Syrian Muslims to turn to their Islamic faith for spiritual succor. Like the other Abrahamic religions, Islam has developed a martial component, jihad, to deal with the harsh realities of war. This component is activated when war occurs, and switches off when peace returns. The idea of Jihad gives many Syrian Muslims faith, direction and strength in a war where right and wrong is blurred and death ubiquitous.

For the observer with a superficial grasp of Islam, it is easy to equate Syrians resorting to the martial component of their faith. In fact, in Syria’s Salafi Insurgents, Aron Lund says most low level Salafist jihadists are really just religiously conservative Wahabi Sunnis, many of whom turned religious during the war and “care very little about the theoretical strands of Islamism.” One suspects that there are many who join these groups not because they subscribe to their ideology but because of their personal interests. They are paid by the Saudi and Yahudi adencies.

The failure to make this distinction has led many to conclude that the Nusra Front and similar groups will play a disproportionate role in Syria, especially seeing that other theoretical strands of Islamism are on the wane. Furthermore, Sulfism has been co-opted by the regime, as Dr. Thomas Pierret shows in Religion and State in Syria that many of the brigades I interviewed cited the Assad regime’s turn against the sulfism. In addition, Salafist jihadi groups like Jabhat Al-Nusra demand too much from their adherents.

Many Salafist jihadi brigades demand total obedience from their members-which means renouncing things like smoking, because it is considered sinful and an impediment to victory. Many fighters I talked to said that the smoking ban was one of the reasons they did not join these brigades. If strictness prevents Syrians from joining these brigades in war, how will they embrace them in peace time? In fact, if the Bosnian experience is anything to go by, Salafist jihadis become a political embarrassment in peacetime. It is no wonder that Salafi umbrella organizations like the Syrian Islamic Front appears worst enemies for the westren world but our state heads are promoting them blindly says the journalists in Europe.

Salafist jihadis will also have to contend with Syria’s tradition of civil activism, its rich intellectual heritage and the established religious institutions (which rival Egypt). Even the Salafi religious scholars I spoke to were tempering the religious zeal of the fighters through study. In such an environment, it seems difficult to envisage politically inexperienced Salafist jihadis dominating Syria’s political landscape. LAHORE: Thousands of angry protesters on Saturday set ablaze more than 178 houses/shops belonging to Christians over a blasphemy row in Lahore, the capital of Pakistan’s most populous province, Punjab, officials said.

Over 3,000 protesters turned violent over derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) allegedly made by Sawan Masih, 28-year-old Christian.  Joseph Colony is a Christian neighborhood in Badami Bagh, Lahorewhich is belonged to a middle-class families from the Christian minority. President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf have ordered an immediate inquiry into the attacks. Police arrested Swan Masih, a sanitary worker, who also ran a one-table snooker club, was arrested on Friday night while the incident actually happened on Wednesday evening.

The arrest was made when Swan Masih’s friend Shahid Imran complained that he had made blasphemous remarks about Prophet Mohammed (saww). Protesters began to assemble in the area on Saturday morning and later set on fire houses and other items including furniture, crockery, auto rickshaws, bicycles and motorbikes belonging to local Christians. Thick clouds of smoke engulfed the small houses, mostly consisting of one or two rooms, and many of them looked like parts of charred walls,” said an eyewitness.

“At least 160 houses, 18 shops and two small churches were burnt by protesters,” Raza, who was busy in rescue operations in the area, told the foreign news agency. Police baton-charged the protesters to disperse them from the neighborhood  There was no loss of life reported during the violence but 20 policemen were slightly injured during clashes, officials said.

Footage of violence from the scene showed many masked members of the mob damaging or burning down the households. Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, said in Lahore that the government would not spare those involved in the attack. But in the other hand it was his failure when the Police and the government of Punjab was totally failed to stop these violent.

Blasphemy is an extremely sensitive issue in Pakistan, where 97 percent of the population is Muslim, and allegations of insulting a religious figure prompt violent outbursts of public anger, even when unproven. Religious schools student were active in this worst kind of sectarian violence. It is strongly condemned by our  head of the ISIJ.
